I'm back and yes I managed to complete the 87.9kms in 8hrs 52minutes, just under my goal of 9hrs. It was an amazing day, the atmosphere at the start line was something I will never forget , over 9500 Africans singing their sporting anthem which was an experience beyond what words could describe. The weather was 27C no wind, hottest Comrades day in many years. The first 44kms was a breeze , I felt strong and confident but the real race came with 35kms to go. I found myself in a place both mentally and physically that I had never been before and I was extremely proud of myself as I found something deep within to come home strong and finish under 9hrs. Exhaustion was a word that described my state after 70kms, I'm yet to find a word to describe how I felt when I crossed the line.
